Steal the Seal Memorial 50k

Steal the Seal 2011 has been cancelled

Thank you to everyone who made the inaugural event a success.  However, due to personal reasons I will be unable to put on the event in 2011.  I appreciate your support and understanding.

The Inaugural Steal the Seal 50k is over!

RESULTS

I would like to thank everybody for coming out and making this a successful event.  I hope everyone has had a good chance to rest.

Congratulations go to our winners in the male, female, masters male, and masters female categories:

Open Division Men's Champion:  Jason Tilton

Herculean effort Jason.  Your time of 4:54:00 was nothing short of heroic.

Masters Division Men's Champion:  Richard Smith

Great job Richard.  Your time of 5:10:34 was exceptional.

Open Division Women's Champion:  Christine Tokarz

We had to put out the fires after Christine torched the course.  She reportedly went an extra 4 to 5 out of the way, and still ended with a time of 5:28:56.

Masters Division Women's Champion:  Mary Mikkelson

Kudos to you, Mary.  Your time of 5:55:18 was very good on this course.

I must give a special thanks to all of my accomplices.  All of the volunteers, the Landrunners, and Red Coyote were monumental in their help taking care of the runners.  Without you guys this event would not have been possible.

Also, I would like to thank RoadID.com for providing race numbers and prizes, and Red Coyote (again) for providing prizes, moral support, and all-around general encouragement.  Without you guys this event would not have been nearly as awesome.

Crimson Clover photography has taken a few pictures of the event, and will have them posted up on their website shortly.

A big thank you also goes to the State Capitol park and the cities of Oklahoma City, Edmond, and Guthrie, for letting us do our thing.

Welcome to the official website of the Steal the Seal Memorial Ultramarathon

On June 11, 1910, the State Seal of Oklahoma was relocated from its location in the State Capitol in Guthrie to a hotel in Oklahoma City.

In honor of this colorful piece of State history, the Steal the Seal 50k has been organized.  In the early morning hours of June 12, 2010, runners went from the current State Capitol in Oklahoma City, to the original Capitol building in Guthrie, to 'return the seal'.  Shortly, we will start getting ready for next year, where we will re-enact the original stealing of the state seal by running the course from Guthrie to Oklahoma City.

This is a USATF sanctioned event.
